The Journey: From the First Beat to the Final Master
It started with a pair of sticks and a practice pad. When I was 12, my older brother gave me the instrument he wished he’d played. That gift turned into a seat in the middle school jazz and marching bands, where I learned the most important lesson of my career: if you want to play it right, you have to understand the language. My instructors pushed me to read music, which led me to the piano at 14—the foundation for everything I do today.
Bridging the Gap. By high school and college, I was living in two worlds. I was a drummer in the pocket for one band and a guitarist writing riffs for another. That "multi-instrumentalist" mindset followed me through my college music theory courses and onto the road. While touring and recording an EP and LP for an indie label, I realized that a great song isn't just about how you play—it’s about how the instruments talk to each other.
Engineering the Sound. In my mid-20s, I stepped into the control room and found my next instrument: The Studio. I became obsessed with the "how" behind the records I loved. I spent the next decade deep in the technical weeds—studying signal chains, watching song breakdowns, and working with artists to capture their best performances.
Welcome to the Lab. I founded A2 Rhythm Lab to share this 360-degree view of music. I’ve spent years recording and mixing bands, and I’ve seen firsthand how a musician who understands their gear is unstoppable. Whether you are picking up sticks for the first time or trying to finish a professional mix, I’m here to give you the technical blueprint I’ve spent my life building.
